FREEDOM: Saturn in Aries

Updated: 14 hours ago

A perfect Saturn in Aries moment—taken on 11/11/11 in Brazil. I was deep into body-building, with that bold, fiery red hair I'd had for over a decade: a look worthy of Saturn in Aries. Interestingly, it was also here, on 11/11, that the man who became my mentor for six years on the Path of Freedom first entered my life.

Freedom: Saturn in Aries

In my last blog, I shared that with time I've come to see Freedom not as a destination, but as an experience—one that is ever-changing and evolving, just as we are.

Today, Saturn in Aries is bringing a whole new dimension to Freedom. It’s highlighting the areas where we have been out of alignment or in avoidance. Saturn in Aries can be harsh and loud, but one way or another, it gets the job done, and through it all, I know my job is to stay humble and listen.

This week Saturn shone on my patterns of overworking, which I've long attributed to my very responsible natal Moon-Saturn conjunction. Last week, after a late night of working (tired and frustrated after saying I’d stop hours earlier) Stephen gently, yet matter-of-factly, asked, “Why did you say yes to work when you really meant to say no?

That question spiraled me into hours of deep reflection. I realized I was operating on autopilot, responding from a programmed fear rooted in my childhood growing up in the cult, where saying “yes” to responsibility was driven by the fear of being brutally beaten (Saturn in Aries). With so many adults under one roof, each had their own method of punishing us children—some reserved special sticks staffs and belts just for beating us.

It took hours of gentle self-reflection in the bath, where I surrendered and released my old relationship with responsibility and perfection. I knew that to begin this new phase of my life—ten years of soaring into greater freedom, world leadership, and global responsibility—my mother's heart must recalibrate into deeper maturity and practical wisdom around my work. If I am to step into a new stage and serve the world in a greater way, I must regulate my relationship with responsibility, and the father patterns within me, especially now, as Saturn enters Aries.

Almost in synchronicity, unique information about my father and his lineage (Saturn) began to surface, including a spontaneous and intense genealogical expedition Stephen and I found ourselves on. Last weekend, we went so deep down the rabbit hole that Stephen uncovered historical records of both our families living in the same parishes between 1760–1780—in Bilbao, Spain; Bayonne, South of France; and Porto, Portugal. In one particular account, my relative was the godmother to Stephen’s relative. It was a bit spooky for both of us. lol.

Both of our lineages come from strong military backgrounds, and Saturn in Aries clearly had some old records and accounts to settle with us. As we voraciously sifted through timelines, weird and eerie incidents started to happen, one after another, until we had to stop.

We had opened Pandora’s box. Or rather, Saturn in Aries did.

2011 — just after my first Saturn Return, two years after leaving the cult, and at the beginning of my journey with the Path of Freedom.

This week I have been noticing Saturn in Aries push to the surface our individual and collective fear, anger, ruthless authority, and the misuse of power. Wake-up calls are happening everywhere. I’ve been advising friends to stay extra aware and present in their environments—these drastic swings are not to be taken lightly. A few bumps and bruises are bound to happen, so I’ve been saying to people: just be a little extra cautious. I’ve especially noticed themes with glass and fire lately, perhaps due to Saturn awakening Aries. I have equally seen an unusual amount of ankle injuries over the last week, which could be due to Saturn, currently at the anaretic and all-together culminating 29th degree of Pisces. Pisces is also the sign that rules ankles and feet.

Saturn is waking up, and it’s entering Aries with full force. I see its signature emerging from all directions.

Where we’ve been slacking, Saturn will make us clean it up. Party time is over. Saturn is here.

As for me, I welcome the loud pressure Saturn in Aries brings—for beneath its fury lies the seed of new boundaries, and new definitions of Freedom waiting to be claimed.
